ADPP builds four primary schools in Nhamatanda

ADPP Mozambique in partnership with Finn Church Aid (FCA), in Response to the destruction caused by Cyclone Idai, supported the education sector in Nhamatanda with the construction of four primary schools.

This initiative is benefiting 9600 students and 200 teachers by providing quality and safe teaching and learning conditions, which consisted essentially of the construction in each of the four schools, of two blocks with two classrooms each, with capacity to host 50 students in each classroom, an administrative block and an improved bathroom.

The schools covered by the project were previously precarious, namely the Sequeira Primary School, Metuchira, Mecumbeze Ponte and Tsunguza, whose new infrastructures were built of mixed material, by the population itself with the help of teachers and principals of the respective schools under guidance from ADPP field officers and FCA volunteers and construction technicians.

Due to the impact of the project, the Tsunguza Primary School was chosen by the local government to collect the official opening ceremonies of the academic year, an event that was chaired by the Nhamatanda District Administrator.
